Introduction
Develop accurate, manufacturable component and tooling designs using SolidWorks. Work with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to optimise designs for quality, cost, and production. Support new product introduction and continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Produce and modify 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Review customer designs and recommend improvements for manufacturability.
- Support tooling design, including patterns, gauges, and fixtures.
- Use simulation software to assess casting performance and process risks.
- Maintain specifications, revision control, and engineering records.
- Support new product introduction, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Work with quality teams to review inspection methods and measurement data.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Product Design, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum two years of CAD modelling and drawing experience using SolidWorks.
- Ability to produce drawings in line with BS 8888 standards.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing methods.
- Experience working with customers and internal teams to solve technical problems.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
